Travel Information
The NAFS conference will be hosted at Hotel Fortin which is located within walking distance (~20 minutes) to downtown and 12 minute drive the Oaxaca airport
If you have not yet booked your hotel room, you can do so here. Rooms are $100 per night, including all taxes, regardless of occupancy. Reservations will close Friday, May 24th.
Conference registration (meals) includes breakfast, coffee breaks, and lunch each day. Dinner is not included, with the exception of the banquet on Thursday evening (June 13th).
It is recommended that if you are traveling by air, you set up your destination airport as the Oaxaca Xoxocotlán Airport in Oaxaca de Juárez, México (OAX). We advise taking a short taxi ride to the conference hotel.
The conference will arrange bus transport to downtown (and back) each evening.
Friday field trips are now closed.
The weather in the region this time of year is typically warm (83 F- 95 F /28 C-35 C) and it is the rainy season so pack a light raincoat.
International Travel by Air
For incoming international flights, we recommend the Oaxaca Xoxocotlán Airport (OAX) in Oaxaca de Juárez, México.
Oaxaca Airport is located approximately 8.4 mi (13.5 km) from the center of Oaxaca City and it takes approximately 12 minutes to reach the hotel.
Flights for Oaxaca Xoxocotlán Airport fly direct Dallas and Los Angeles. However, connection flights are also available based on number of departures from Mexico city, Monterrey, Nuevo León or Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Once you land, look for the ground transportation desks, and ask for the Oaxaca Airport Taxi.

Pickups are available for up to 4 passengers, and groups of up to 8 people, with extra space for luggage.
Uber does not operate in Oaxaca but DiDi can be accessed from a mobile app in a similar manner.
