Conference Program

We look forward to welcoming over 130 attendees to the 2nd biennial NAFGS conference!

The conference will run from Monday, June 10th through Thursday, June 13th in Oaxaca, Mexico!

The NAFGS meeting will feature five plenary talks, contributed talks from researchers and students, speed talk opportunities, and a poster session.

The meeting will host four training workshops on the first day, a pre-conference virtual workshop, Tuesday evening cultural event, local field trip mid-week, and Thursday evening banquet dinner.

The final day of the conference (Friday the 14th) concludes with local field trips.

Conference check-in, and an opening mixer, will start at 6pm on Monday, June 10th at Hotel Fortin. The workshops will run from the morning to the early evening on the 10th (before registration opens).

If you would like to reserve space for a
different workshop, or if you will be unable to attend the conference, please let the organizers know as soon as possible.  All in-person workshops are full!

Posters can be set up on the morning of Tuesday, June 11th, and a dedicated poster session will take place on Wednesday, June 12th starting at 5:30pm. Please remove posters immediately before the banquet on Thursday evening. Recommendations for poster size and content can be found here

The Wednesday morning (local) field trip to Monte Alban is included in your registration and will include lunch. We will return to the hotel after lunch for the afternoon sessions.

The Thursday night banquet is included in your registration.

Hotel Fortin is about 1.05 mi/1.7 km from downtown Oaxaca - about a 20 minute walk. Uber is not available in Oaxaca but a similar service, Didi, exists, as do local taxis. The conference will arrange bus transport to downtown (and back) each evening as well. The pick-up/drop-off schedule will be posted in the conference book and available at the registration desk.
